Welcome to the 23rd annual Vancouver Film and Television Forum, Sept. 24-26, a series of panel discussions, master classes, workshops, tête-à-tête meetings and speed dating sessions geared to the professional development of the Canadian film and television community. The Forum provides an exciting platform for delegates to access domestic and global market leaders, share the expertise of our international speakers and make the most of the opportunity to meet and foster working relationships with their peers.

The Forum's program content continues to provide smart, serious, challenging and timely discussions ranging from the ever-prevalent issue of viral marketing and digital distribution to finding that elusive co-production partner. The 2008 Vancouver Film and Television Forum will continue to host an unprecedented line-up of multiple award-winning speakers from some of the most celebrated, successful and critically acclaimed films and TV shows of this millennium. Trying to create the next Away From Her or launching your version of The Wire? Then come to the Forum and find out how to create that original and successful content!

Sold-out sessions in 2007 included The Art of Creative Producing with PGA Producer of the Year Ron Yerxa (Little Miss Sunshine) and Mary Jane Skalski (Station Agent); Co-Venturing with the US featuring top execs from Regent Studios, Fox21tv, Lifetime TV, The N. and Insight Film Releasing; Robert Thirkell's (Britain's No. 1 Producer in 2006) C.O.N.F.L.I.C.T.; and TV Comedy Writing with Emmy Award-winning writer Paul Lieberstein (The Office).

The ever-popular New Filmmakers' Day (NFD), returns again on September 27 to cater specifically to emerging writers, producers and directors of film and television. NFD is the only event of its kind in western Canada and sells out quickly. In 2007 standing-room only crowds enjoyed Alex McDowell (Minority Report) and Philippe Rousellot (A River Runs Through It) sharing their insights into the Director/Production Designer Relationship while  Arin Crumley (Four Eyed Monsters) and Lance Weiller (Head Trauma) in Fast Forward: Filmmakers' Seize Control inspired the next generation of filmmakers to  take their films directly to market through innovative viral marketing and social networking strategies.
