2001The Year of the Volunteer
The year 2001 has been proclaimed the international Year of the Volunteer and we would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you for your generosity of spirit and time. We could not produce the festival without your commitment and hard work. In celebration of the Year of the Volunteer we plan to expand our reserved seat capacity, with virtually unlimited access to the VISA Screening Room at the Vogue. This years volunteer gala promises to be the best ever. Once again we will be at the Crowne Plaza Hotel Georgia in the Regal Ballroom and beyond, with additional space provided courtesy of our sponsor hotel. Our aim is to honour our volunteers and recognize outstanding performance.
Introducing the new Bell Infoline: 604.683.FILM (3456)
Through our new sponsorship with Bell Canada, we are proud to offer the new Bell Infoline. If you have general questions or want more information regarding a film being shown at the festival, phone the Bell Infoline at our new easy to remember phone number (604) 683-FILM (3456).
The VISA Screening Room @ The Vogue Theatre
We are pleased to announce that thanks to the generosity of our partner VISA, the Vogue Theatre has joined our Festival Family as a full-time venue. The Vogue is a familiar historical landmark in Vancouver and has been a long-standing venue for Gala screenings at the Festival. This is the first year that the VISA Screening Room @ The Vogue Theatre will be used as a full-time festival venue. Equipped with a brand new screen and upgraded projection booth, this will now be the largest venue at 1080 seats, with the most volunteer reserved-seating allotment in the history of the festival. Thank You VISA!
The Walk on the Wild Side series presented by Altoid Mints
Thanks to the generous sponsorship of Altoid Mints, we are able to present our Walk on the Wild Side series at our largest venue, the VISA Screening Room at the Vogue Theatre. Due to the ever-increasing popularity of the series we will all appreciate the extra space.
Ever-Evolving Box Office
Every year we strive to develop our box office system in keeping with current technology. This year we are pleased to announce that we will be using ADSL lines at both remote box office venues to significantly speed up the ticket purchasing process.

Annual membership fee: $1.00
As a registered non-profit society, the Vancouver International Film Festival screens films that have not been seen by the B.C. Film Classification Board. Under B.C. law any person wishing to see these unclassified films must belong to the Film Festival Society and be 18 years or older. By joining the society, you are also entitled to attend the Annual General Meeting (held each year on the third Tuesday of April, at the Pacific Cinémathèque). Membership fee is $1.00 and is valid until the following years Film Festival season begins. You will be required to show your membership card at each screening you attend. If you cannot produce a valid membership card we must ask you to purchase one at that time, so please keep your card with you.

Theatre Procedures
All programs are subject to change. Please check Daily Updates in our Vancouver Sun ads.
No refunds or exchanges can be given, except in the case of a program cancellation.
Important: In the event of a refund, you will be required to show your ticket stub.
There are generally three line-ups at theatres: one for passholders, one for advance ticket holders and one for those wishing to purchase tickets. All ticket holders will be required to show their membership cards, or purchase one. If you are waiting to purchase tickets, please have your membership card and money ready.
Passes
A generous allotment of seats is reserved at every screening for passholders. While a pass does not guarantee seating, passholders are allowed priority entry up until either that allotment has been reached or the 15-minute mark prior to show time. After that, passholders must join the ticket purchase line and take their chances. All passes are strictly non-transferable and photo I.D. may be asked to be shown at the theatre.
If you are a passholder planning to attend consecutive screenings at the same venue, you will need to get a second screening ticket while in line for your first screening. The recording of pass types and distribution of second screening tickets will be handled on a first-come, first-served basis. The number of second screening tickets is limited and when this allotment is reached additional passholders will have to join the appropriate line-up outside the theatre. To effectively manage the changeover between screenings, all patrons wanting to stay will be asked to remain in their seats and our staff will collect their second screening ticket, advance ticket, or door ticket. This is a new policy aimed at making theatre access as fair as possible for all passholders. This advance calculation of attendance will more effectively enable us to inform line-ups as to seat availability.
Rush Tickets
Day-of-show tickets for all screenings may be purchased at the individual venues starting 30 minutes prior to each screening of the day. If a particular screenings allotment of advance tickets has sold out, rush tickets are usually available 30 minutes before show time.
