A young man’s late-night arrival in a sombre apartment the day after his father’s death is soon interrupted by a series of unexpected visitors. In Italy the night after a person’s death is known as "the night of forgiveness," a time when all old resentments fade away. It’s the script that shines with subtle humour and humanity in this multi-layered piece, along with the terrific lead performance, camera work, and production design. What is so wonderful is how true the emotions and advice that emerge through the interactions are, as the effects of death on one’s perspective are passed on through this night of surprises.
