L.A. Tea Time
True North | True North
Like so many before her, Sophie Bédard Marcotte heads to L.A. intent on realizing a dream: in her case, it’s meeting Miranda July. With her cinematographer riding shotgun, Sophie motors down Route 66 on an odyssey that’s equally anthropological and fever dreamt. Buoyed by wry humour (they feign listening to a Robyn song they can’t afford to license) and a palpable sense of wonder with the landscapes and locals they encounter, this singular travelogue reminds us that making any film is an act of faith.
