My Dinner with Andre

Cinema Salon

Panorama | Vancity Theatre Screening

Imagine someone approaching you and suggesting, "Would you like to have dinner in New York at Café des Artistes with a fascinating theatre actor/writer and a director?" If it’s a yes, pull up a chair as stay-at-home pragmatist Wallace Shawn and dreamer/adventurer Andre Gregory share their adventures and anxieties. Both born storytellers, the men take us through their passions and concerns and many of our own. A stunning freeze-frame of cosmopolitan culture, My Dinner with André is a unique work directed by French New Wave filmmaker Louis Malle. Roger Ebert named it as the best film of 1981.
