Great cinema has the power to educate, inspire, and foster empathy across cultures. It has the unique ability to spur the imagination while providing a bridge to better understanding of lessons learned in the classroom and relevant issues of our time. From stories of youth exploring identity to films that capture historical moments and untold stories, we believe our student-focused films can be used as a powerful educational tool in developing critical thinking skills and exposure to different perspectives.
Normally, our student-focused matinees are available for booking from Monday – Friday and include an opportunity for educators to enhance the learning experience through pre or post screening discussions with classes inside the theatre.
We are currently planning an online festival and year-round program which will include opportunities for teachers and students to experience the magic of cinema. Stay tuned for details. Email email@example.com to find out more and to be added to our Educators' email list.
Stay safe. We look forward to the day when we can invite you back to our home at the VIFF Centre.
