Case Study: The Body Remembers When the World Broke Open

Join us for a fascinating behind-the-scenes look at the making of The Body Remembers When the World Broke Open, co-written and co-directed by Elle-Máijá Tailfeathers and Kathleen Hepburn. The film’s directors and producers will share their experiences with development, financing, shooting in real time and distribution, and they’ll discuss the unique role that Telus STORYHIVE’s Indigenous Youth Mentorship Project played in partnering the film’s key creatives with Indigenous youths. The STORYHIVE Indigenous Youth Mentee’s for this project include Jade Baxter, Olivia Golosky, Rylan Friday, Sol Chiniquay, Peter Robinson, Naomi Kennedy, Jaz Whitford, Jacoby MacDonald, Emma Frank, Tristin Greyeyes, and Michael Wright.

Sam Hudecki is a celebrated storyboard artist who has collaborated with acclaimed filmmaker Denis Villeneuve on such films as Enemy, Prisoners, Sicario, Arrival, Blade Runner 2049 and the upcoming Dune. He’ll share his sources of inspiration and his philosophies of drawing, as well as discuss the practical considerations of storyboarding as a critical tool used to communicate a vision to the entire production team.
