Wine and Zimbabwe: these two words don’t often appear in the same sentence, but they’re at the heart of this irresistible documentary by Warwick Ross and Robert Coe. Four economic refugees from Robert Mugabe’s corrupt, cash-strapped regime make a fresh start in South Africa. Through different twists of fate each discovers he is blessed with a discerning palate – so much so, they come together as Team Zimbabwe to compete in The World Wine Blind Tasting Championship for the first time. With its four immensely likable heroes, this charming movie combines a triumph-of-the-underdog, Cool Runnings vibe with a keen appreciation for the finer things in life: wine, fellowship, and the sustaining idea of home.

It’s impossible not to smile along with this feelgood documentary…

Heartwarming, inspirational stuff.
