During the October 7 attacks, Liat Beinin Atzili and her husband Aviv Atzili were kidnapped from their home in a kibbutz near the border. Shortly afterwards, Brandon Kramer began filming with Liat’s parents, Yehuda and Chaya Beinin, as they advocated with policy makers in Israel, Washington and across the media in hopes of a speedy resolution. Often, this campaign put them at loggerheads with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, but also sometimes with their own family, and even within the marriage.
This is an intimate, close up portrait of Jewish anguish (Kramer is a distant relative of his subjects) but also a nuanced take on the wider political situation.
100% Fresh, Rotten Tomatoes
An emotionally rich, politically thought-provoking account of one Israeli-American family’s ordeal in the wake of the October 7 attacks by Hamas… Kramer’s film offers intimate, empathetic insight into the impact of the attacks on the Beinin family; it also depicts a more complex picture of Israeli citizens’ political attitudes than has often been available in the wake of Israel’s retaliatory campaign in Gaza.

A valuable work… powerful and complex.
