Kate (Megan Dunlop), a bicycle-maintenance instructor, is ambivalent about her relationship with Ollie (Michael LeBlanc), a birth control educator. While he’s a great guy who is beloved by her friends, he’s also her first true love and she’s curious about what else the world might hold. But when Kate discovers she’s pregnant, breaking up becomes all the more complicated. What should Kate do?! What can she do?! Laced with magical realism and buoyed by an infectious soundtrack of Haligonian pop, Andrea Dorfman’s acclaimed debut is a delight.
Intro by DIY curator, Sook-Yin Lee
Andrea Dorfman is a total proponent of D.I.Y. living. An animator and filmmaker who loves to make art and sew her own clothes, she came of age as a 90s-era young feminist. Parsley Days is her first feature film. Andrea was awarded a modest Canada Council grant, then wrote, produced, and directed a classic Canadian indie film that brought together many of the leading lights of her Halifax community of friends, artists, and ’Pop Explosion’ musicians. Even Matt Reid, self-described as (Heated Rivalry author) “Rachel Reid’s bisexual husband.™” made an appearance!

Agatha's Almanac
Shot over six years on vibrant 16mm film, Agatha’s Almanac is an artful documentary portrait of filmmaker Amalie Atkin’s octogenarian aunt, who has fashioned herself an endearingly simple and self-sustaining lifestyle on her Manitoba farm.
The Art of Adventure
The unbelievable adventure story of how painter Robert Bateman and ecologist Bristol Foster drove a Land Rover from Africa to Australia in 1957, developing a love of nature to last a lifetime. An inspirational love letter to the adventure of life itself.
