In recognition of National Indigenous History Month, we present We Are All Different, a collection of contemporary Indigenous shorts that explore heritage, lived experiences, relationships, and identity. Each film is accompanied by an interview with its creator, offering greater insights into their respective practices, approaches, and motivations.

This short film program includes the following films:

Ajjigiingiluktaaqtugut (We Are All Different)
Lindsay McIntyre, BC/QC/NU (17 min)Using antique wind-up bears, layered animation, and analogue techniques, this animated documentary explores identity and belonging, by Inuit both inside and outside of community.


Tla-o-qui-aht Dugout Canoe
Steven Davies, BC (11 min)After working as a clearcut logger in the Clayoquot Sound, master carver and land defender Joe Martin reconciles his past by revitalizing the ancestral knowledge and artistic practice of the traditional Tla-o-qui-aht dugout canoe.


Asia Youngman, BC (10 min)After a near collision at an intersection, two women find themselves face-to-face and at each other’s throats in a yoga class.
