XINEMA Program 1

This event has passed

XINEMA is an ongoing series that showcases underrepresented artists and media forms through expansive film programs and discussions. We aim to create intersections between emerging and well-established filmmakers within and around “Vancouver”, BC. Established in VIFF Centre’s Studio Theatre, XINEMA aims to strengthen and preserve the experimental film scene by creating a space for open conversation, skill-sharing, and community. Look for future programmes every third Sunday of the month.

Times Long Past, a phrase derived from the feeling of an unportrayable memory, an allusion to how objects, people, and places represent and convey the past. This program brings together seven films that reflect on the materialization and embodiment of time through fragmented structures, abstract recollections, and emblematic degradation.

Screening: Time and Place by Brittney Appleby, Patterns of Liquid Stars by Sammy Chien, Diminished by Richard Martin, Where no one knew her name & Though she never spoke, this is where her voice would have been by Lindsay McIntyre, Spring Soon by Linda Serrano, and Qualicum by Sydney Southam.

The Xinema Team would like to encourage patrons to wear masks for this show in consideration of immunocompromised guests.
