Igor Cobileanschi’s film is the story of a divorced nurse, Alina, looking after a comatose patient who happens to be a renowned artist. When Alina’s boyfriend offers her grown son Radu a job at his real estate business she’s grateful. But no good deed goes unpunished and Alina will be forced to reevaluate her principles. Cleverly structured to examine an ethical quandry from four different points of view, Comatogen is another compelling work from the Romanian New Wave.
