Imagine the studio pitch for this: a story about a rat who dreams of becoming a gourmet chef, “and for the climax, he has to cook for the snootiest food critic in Paris!” It may sound improbable but after an unbroken series of hits across its first decade, Pixar could make any story they pleased, and Ratatouille turned out to be one of the most successful yet, as well as their third film to win the Oscar for Best Animated Feature.
Comedian Patton Oswalt voices the foodie rodent, Remy, who teams up with garbage boy Alfredo Linguini (Lou Romano) to create culinary masterpieces, one hair tug at a time. Peter O’Toole lends his voice to the lofty connoisseur, critic Anton Ego. It’s a delicious and very funny movie about creativity and excellence.
Ratatouille is a nearly flawless piece of popular art.

How good, and how much fun, is Ratatouille? So good that when it was over, all I wanted to do was watch it again.
Moira Macdonald, Seattle Times
This delicious tale of a rat who cooks is pure joy, a grand achievement — one of the most beautiful animated pictures ever made.
