A Lien

Canadian Premiere

On the day of their green card interview a young couple confronts a twisted and dangerous immigration process. Right from the first scene this is a virtually non-stop whirlwind of action and tension that totally captures the stress and confusion the characters are experiencing when Code Red is unleashed by ICE forces. Top notch directing and performances heighten the experience in what becomes a gut-churning ordeal. Superb handheld cinematography and focus pulling is used to achieve a suffocatingly frenetic and intensely anxiety-ridden energy reminiscent of a powerful panic attack. Based on real life experiences and practices this pressure cooker story is an example of just how twisted the process of getting immigration status in the USA has become, which rightfully could be argued to be an abuse of power at the very least.
