In Uberlandia, Brazil, a dwarf earns his living fixing ovens, which he easily fits into thanks to his small size. A wonderfully realized vision of a man marginalized partially by his diminutive size and partially because he lives on the low end of the socio-economic ladder, being awoken to aspects of the big picture he hadn’t considered before and finding it liberating. It’s an open ended character study of an enigmatic character who confesses “I destroy the things I get inside of”. The film plays with genre, form, social commentary, and expectations, creating a somewhat surreal world where he is always framed as normal, while everyone else is partially cut off. This thought provoking and metaphorical tale takes us on an unpredictable ride where even a misfit can have his day.
