Three decades into their friendship, former SNL head writer Harper emailed Will Ferrell to tell him that she was transitioning, and that the next time they saw each other, she would be a woman. Will wanted to be there for his friend — but he also had questions. Out of that this movie was born: a road trip across the United States from New York to California, a chance for two pals to hang out and get to know each other anew, for Will to get his head around gender identity, and for Harper to get out of her comfort zone and face whatever America had to show her.
This is a touching film — all the more so because it’s also often funny — which holds up a mirror to our society’s often confused and contradictory (or outright hostile) attitudes towards honest gender identity.
Emotional, funny, and charged with a sense of vulnerability, Will & Harper is a beautiful thing.
Tomris Laffly, Harper’s Bazaar
It’s a generous, sensitive study of allyship and what that really means in the day-to-day with Ferrell working out in different, often potentially dangerous, situations how to do the right thing.

Magic Farm
In Amalia Ulman's playful slow burner, a Vice-like camera crew wash up in a sleepy South American village and cook up a story that isn't there with the help of cynical locals eager to take the gringos for every cent.
