The Track

Ignite High School Screening

In postwar Sarajevo, three teenagers pursue their Olympic dreams on a luge track scarred by bullets, graffiti, and years of neglect. Once a national landmark from the 1984 Olympics, the track is now overgrown, but for Hamza, Zlatan, and Mirza, it is a place of training and hope. Guided by their experienced coach Senad Omanovic, they dedicate themselves to mastering their sport, even in the face of local economic struggles, religious tensions, and growing nationalism.

Ryan Sidhoo’s coming-of-age documentary is both thrilling and inspiring, with heart-stopping race sequences and a clear-eyed look at how friendship, perseverance, and shared dreams can help young people rise above obstacles, even when dreams don’t go to plan. The Track shows resilience, the power of sport to unite communities, and how determination and teamwork can create a brighter future beyond the lingering shadow of conflict.
