Lisa, a successful cartoonist on the verge of her first book publication, is lured to a rare, mysterious gathering with her parents and two siblings at the family’s forest home. The purpose, it is revealed, is to decide which of the children will inherit the vast land and take over the family lumber business.
This is a funny and sensitive portrayal of a loving but dysfunctional family. Director Andreas Öhman (Simple Simon) brings surprising, imaginative touches to the family drama, and Karin Franz Körlof is wonderful as the insecure and eccentric youngest daughter, who feels out of place in the rural idyll of her childhood home, away from her urban Stockholm life. One Day All This Will be Yours is an unexpectedly touching film, inhabiting an imaginative world where a soap bubble monster provides creative critiques, and canned herring sing a swinging serenade. Witty, charming, and one-of-a-kind.
A finely tuned take on the lighte and darker sides of family dynamics
