Amp 2026 Application

Emerging music professionals are now invited to apply to be part of the 2026 VIFF Amp cohort, attending the Music in Media Summit from Oct 3-8 in Vancouver.

The summit explores every aspect of music in film, television and new media, from composition to song placement for film, television, advertising and video games.

Selected applicants will be given free entry to expertly curated masterclasses, case studies, panel discussions, tailored networking opportunities, breakout sessions and musical showcases. The program is designed to develop skills and create connections that can excel a career in film and television, with a focus on providing access to artists from traditionally underrepresented communities.

Who should apply?

Applicants must:

  • Be an emerging music professional: a songwriter, composer, or music entrepreneur who seeks to build a career in film, television and/or new media
  • Be able to travel to Vancouver, Canada to attend all in-person sessions over Oct 3-8

Priority will be given to those who self-identify as facing institutional barriers* within mainstream music and/or film industry and/or independent film and/or music communities.

For the purpose of this application, you are considered an emerging music or film professional if you meet one of the following criteria:

  • Are in the early or formative stages of your career in music/film
  • Are enrolled in, or have recently graduated from, a related degree/diploma/training program
  • Demonstrate a commitment to devoting more time to your practice
  • Demonstrate a desire to gain more skills, resources and influences to serve your practice as it pertains to music in film

If you self-identify as a member of an equity-seeking group within mainstream music and/or the film industry and/or independent film and/or music communities, and do not meet the above criteria, we would still encourage you to apply. If your role in music or film isn’t listed but you’re curious about Amp, we still encourage you to apply.

All Amp alumni are welcome to apply twice within a five-year period. Attending as an alumni in previous years counts towards this period.

*VIFF is committed to offering opportunities to equity-seeking groups. We value a diverse and inclusive industry that’s reflective of manifold interests and encourage applications from individuals that have been marginalized based on sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, neurotype, disability, racialization, status as an Indigenous person, political belief, religion, marital or family status, low income or low economic status.
