Gabriel Abrantes
Gabriel Abrantes, born 1984 in North Carolina, is a Lisbon-based visual artist and filmmaker. His films have won prizes at Berlinale and Locarno, where he received the Golden Leopard, and have premiered at major festivals including TIFF and NYFF, with exhibitions at prestigious institutions including the Tate Modern, Palais de Tokyo, and MIT List Visual Arts Center. His film Diamantino (2018, co-directed with Daniel Schmidt) won the Grand Prize at Cannes’ Critics Week, and his horror film Amelia’s Children (2024) won the Jury Prize at Gérardmer.
