Kevin Eastwood headshot

Kevin is an award-winning film & TV director and producer based in Vancouver. Most recently he wrote and directed British Columbia: An Untold History, a critically-acclaimed documentary series that retells the history of British Columbia from a more diverse and inclusive perspective. The series won 5 Leo Awards, including Best Documentary Series, Best Direction and Best Writing, and was nominated for 5 Canadian Screen Awards (CSAs) by the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television. Previous credits as writer/director include Humboldt: The New Season, a one-hour documentary for CBC Television about the aftermath of a bus crash that killed 16 members of a junior hockey team (CSA nominee for Best Documentary Program); After The Sirens, also for CBC, about the epidemic of PTSD amongst paramedics (CSA nominee for Best Documentary Program); The Death Debate, a behind-the-scenes look at the landmark Supreme Court of Canada case on medical assistance in dying (CSA nominee for Best Direction); and Emergency Room: Life + Death At VGH, a critically-acclaimed doc-series about the frontlines of emergency health care (CSA nominee for Best Direction and Best Documentary Series, and winner of The People’s Choice Award for Favourite TV Series at the Leo Awards). In addition to his writing and directing work, Kevin is also an accomplished producer. His credits as a producer include the documentary features Haida Modern (VIFF 2019), Haida Gwaii: On the Edge of the World (VIFF 2015), and Oil Sands Karaoke (VIFF 2013), as well as the dramatic features Preggoland (VIFF 2014), Elijah (VIFF 2008), Fido (VIFF 2006), and The Delicate Art of Parking (VIFF 2003).
