Kevin Eastwood is an award-winning documentary filmmaker and film & TV producer. He has directed four documentary series and three broadcast documentaries, and has been a producer on two TV series, seven movies, and eight feature-length documentaries — many of which have screened at VIFF. Recurring themes in his work include environmental issues, animal welfare, the impact of trauma, healthcare, and the role of art in society.
Most recently Kevin was the showrunner and director of Wildfire, a critically-acclaimed documentary series about Canada’s worst fire season on record. This marked his third project as series director, having previously helmed the award-winning history series, British Columbia: An Untold History and the highly successful medical series, Emergency Room: Life + Death At VGH. Other credits as writer/director include Humboldt: The New Season and After the Sirens (both nominated for Best Documentary Program at the Canadian Screen Awards), The Society Page, and The Death Debate (CSA nominee for Best Direction). As a producer, Kevin’s credits include the documentary features The Painted Life of E.J. Hughes, Haida Modern, and Oil Sands Karaoke, and the movies, Preggoland, Fido, and The Delicate Art of Parking.
