This Month’s Film
Oscar-nominated Song of the Sea is a breathtaking Irish animated film about siblings Ben and Saoirse, who discover they are tied to an ancient world of selkies, spirits, and sea magic. As they journey across Ireland’s mythic landscapes, the film weaves folklore, music, and emotion into a gentle adventure about grief, courage, and the healing power of love. A beautiful, evocative family fable from Irish filmmaker Tomm Moore, the director of the Oscar-nominated The Secret of Kell, Song of the Sea is visually stunning and deeply moving, a magical experience for children and adults alike.
Before the film gets started, kids can have fun with making crafts inspired by the film! A special movie snack pack including themed candy, small popcorn and small drink, will be available to purchase.
A quite delightful piece of magical animation… a bewitching, moving and often enchanting film.
Mark Adams, Hollywood Reporter
Song of the Sea is a wonder to behold. This visually stunning animation masterwork, steeped in Irish myth, folklore and legend, so adroitly mixes the magical and the everyday that to watch it is to be wholly immersed in an enchanted world.
Kenneth Turan, LA Times
If I had to recommend the best children’s film out there for all ages, this one, and The Tale of Princess Kaguya, would easily top the charts.
Peter Rainer, Christian Science Monitor

Content considerations: Loss of a family member is part of this story, and there are some tense moments with Macha the ’Owl Witch’ and her ominous owls that feel a bit scary until the main characters escape.

Two Strangers Trying Not to Kill Each Other
This intimate and candid film by a younger husband and wife artist team is a delicate and immensely moving dual portrait of two artists, husband and wife, together and apart, at that point in life when the end casts a shadow over even the sunniest day.

Blue Road - The Edna O'Brien Story
Judging by this candid, funny, passionate biographical documentary, it would have been a wild ride to have been Irish novelist Edna O'Brien, or even to have been in her circle of friends and lovers. Well, for an hour and a half we can pretend we were.
Do You Love Me
Lana Daher's bravura and defiant non-fiction film is a cultural-historical self-portrait of Beirut, comprised entirely of film clips (many of them from dramatic features, but also from news reports, TV and home video) culled from the last 70 years.
