This Month’s Film:
“My name is Inigo Montoya! Prepare to die!”
One of the most beloved movies of the 80s, The Princess Bride delivered a classic swashbuckling fairy tale for kids who thought they knew better. Beautiful Buttercup (Robin Wright) is kidnapped and held for the odious Prince Humperdinck (Chris Sarandon). Her true love Westley (Cary Elwes), now returned as the Dread Pirate Roberts, attempts to save her. On the way he meets an accomplished swordsman (Mandy Patinkin) and a kindly giant (pro wrestler Andre the Giant), who become his companions on the quest. A funny, adventurous and genuinely romantic throwback to beloved fairytales of the past.
Before the film gets started, kids can have fun with making their own creative crown. A special themed snack pack including candy fit for royalty, small popcorn and small drink, will be available to purchase.
Heroic fantasies, we often feel, should be lighter than air, hot as dragon fire, fast as a sword in sunlight. And that’s mostly what we get from the delightful The Princess Bride — along with some bracing humor and foolery.

Content considerations: some of the sword fighting, blood effects, and dungeon scenes (including a medieval torture machine that sucks life energy from Westley) may be scary for young children. We recommend age 7 and up for those seeing it for the first time.
