Jacob's Ladder film image; upset man with a contraption secured around his head

Jacob's Ladder

This event has passed

Ever feel you’re losing your mind? Jacob Singer (Tim Robbins) comes back from the Vietnam War with a firefight in his head. He’s seeing things. His memory is playing tricks on him. Reality doesn’t add up anymore. Sanity seems to be losing the battle. Bruce Joel Rubin (Ghost; The Sixth Sense) wrote the ingenious screenplay. Adrian Lyne directs with thunderous intent. And Tim Robbins gives it his all — and you may spot Macaulay Culkin in an uncredited bit part.

Dedicated to the memory of David House, whose favourite movie this was (and as anyone who knew David will tell you, that’s saying a lot: he watched more movies than any of us).

A slick, riveting, viscerally scary film.

Janet Maslin, New York Times

For hours and days after you’ve seen it, you’ll still be putting it together in your head.

John Hartl, Seattle Times
