Evgenia Arbugaeva

Evgenia Arbugaeva is a photographer and filmmaker born in Tiksi, a town on the shore of the Laptev Sea in the Republic of Sakha. Her debut short, Haulout (2022), co-directed with her brother Maxim Arbugaev, documents the tragic effects of climate change on the walrus population of the Arctic, and was nominated for an Academy Award. Arbugaeva is a National Geographic Society Explorer and recipient of the ICP Infinity Award and the Leica Oskar Barnack Award for her photography. Her work has been exhibited internationally and has appeared in The New Yorker, Time, and National Geographic, among other publications.
