Drawing from a distinctly female perspective, Kimi Yawata creates emotionally resonant, character-driven stories that engage audiences with their sensitivity and depth. She began developing her own narrative films while working in advertising production at Tohokushinsha Film Corporation, and is notable for her films Beard and Raincoat (2018) and Wife’s Power Outage (2023).
