Early visions of togetherness are juxtaposed with the rise of individualism, asking whether the impulse to possess, protect, and claim is truly innate, or whether it emerges from a Eurocentric, patriarchal worldview.
With Together, Neozoon Collective (Lake of Fire, MODES 2022) presents a raw, incisive assemblage of exquisite provocations. Weaving historical footage with found contemporary images from YouTube and TikTok, an interrogation of land ownership, property, and security transforms disparate materials into a mesmerizing meditation on the stories we inherit and the systems we continue to uphold.

NEOZOON
Neozoon is an artist collective founded in Berlin and Paris in 2009. For over 15 years, the collective has developed an experimental film practice and site-specific installations based on the principle of collage, drawing on found footage from public archives and social media. Neozoon’s interest lies in the human animal as a social animal: its rituals, structures, and the images it produces of itself. Their work has been shown at the Centre Pompidou in Paris, the ZKM in Karlsruhe, and Kunst-Werke Berlin, and has screened at film festivals in Oberhausen, Rotterdam, Locarno, and New York.
