Roid follows Sadhu, a hardworking, solitary man in his forties. Searching for companionship, he marries a young woman from a distant village, but the union does not go as planned. Mysterious and deeply eccentric, his new wife disrupts the quiet rhythm of Sadhu’s life with her strange behaviour. As her actions start affecting the people in the village and rumours start spreading, Sadhu is unable to cope and decides to abandon her — only for her to reappear, again and again. And each time, her return coincides with the fall of ripe palm fruits.
Roid offers a breathtaking journey through the serene landscape of Bangladesh, exploring themes of desire and attachment. Through powerful visual storytelling that blends magical realism, mythology, and rich symbolism, director Mejbaur Rahman Sumon crafts a deeply immersive cinematic experience that invites the audience to interpret its mysteries. Nazifa Tushi brings profound depth to her character, delivering a standout performance.
