Ayce Kartal is an animation graduate from Anadolu University in Eskisehir. His short Wicked Girl (2018) was the first animated film to win the Grand Prize in the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival, and would go on to win the César for Best Animated Short Film in 2019. His latest short, Who killed Narin G**** ? (2026), was made in response to the deep social divide and tense political situation in Turkey, particularly around human rights issues and the growing number of child disappearances and cases of domestic violence. Kartal is currently developing his first feature film.
