Movie theatres usually discourage talking but our latest series is designed to encourage it — before and after (not during) the show. Created for cinema-loving Seniors, Talking Pictures offers audience-friendly festival films, refreshments, and an open invitation to chat about our shared experience of the movie.
Join us on the last Tuesday of the month, at 11:00 am, at the most comfortable theatre in the city, the VIFF Centre.
Tickets are just $10. Bring a buddy and get two for $16!
Woman at War
This month's Talking Pictures screening is a rousing comedy about an Icelandic choirmaster waging a one-woman eco-war against the powers that be. Join us for free snacks and chit chat after the movie!
Capernaum
Nadine Labaki's Oscar-nominated heart-tugger tells the story of a 12 year old boy who has grown up in the slums of Beirut, and who decides to sue his parents for bringing him into such a world. "An absolute heartbreaker." Peter Howell, Toronto Star
Two of Us
This French love story is as tense and edgy as a thriller. Nina (Barbara Sukowa) has the apartment adjacent to Madeleine's, which is convenient: the women have been secret lovers for decades. Then a stroke renders Madeleine paralyzed, and Nina is bereft.
The Lunchbox
In the first of our new monthly film series for 55+, a modern classic rom-com from India. Enjoy the movie and stay for refreshments and informal chat.
